Implant Care
Peri-implantitis treatment
Treatment for inflammation and bone loss around dental implants in Sherman Oaks. Caught early, an affected implant can often be treated and kept.
What it treats
Peri-implantitis is an infection of the gum and bone around an implant, similar to gum disease around a natural tooth. If it progresses, the implant can loosen and fail.
It often begins as peri-implant mucositis, inflammation limited to the gums, which can be reversed. Once bone is affected, treatment aims to stop the infection and, where possible, regenerate the lost bone.
